Heather is an experienced insurance litigation defense attorney with a background in the legal field that dates back to her undergraduate years at Winona State University. There, she immersed herself in the study of Paralegal/Political Science, and graduated with a B.S. in both. Heather graduated, and took a job as a paralegal at Minnesota firm, where she worked as a paralegal in support of attorneys representing commercial businesses and insurance companies. After several years, Heather decided she wanted to further her legal education, and enrolled at the Michigan State University College of Law. As a law student, Heather found the legal knowledge she gained from her undergraduate courses and years as a paralegal to be invaluable to her studies.
Heather graduated in Spring of 2012 and was admitted to the Illinois bar in November of that same year. Heather began working at a civil litigation insurance defense firm where she sharpened her litigation skills in the defense of general and excess commercial liability policies for commercial businesses and insurance companies throughout the state of Illinois. Since then, Heather has taken and defended over 175 depositions of fact witnesses, independent experts, and controlled experts. She has also attended over 150 court hearings and has drafted and successfully argued dispositive motions.
Now an associate at Patton & Ryan, Heather has centered her practice on the numerous medical practice claims that the firm frequently litigates.
