Alec Deborin

Raised in Chicago, Alec Deborin joined the Patton & Ryan team in 2021 after practicing as a defense attorney for a workers compensation firm.

A graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and later the DePaul College of Law, Alec earned a Health Law Certificate to go along with his Bachelor’s in History and J.D. His zealotry and proficiency in Health Law led him to become Senior Editor of the DePaul Journal of Health Care Law, Director of Outreach for the Michael and Mary Jaharis Health Law Institute of DePaul College of Law, and a participant on two Health Law Moot Court teams. Alec quickly gained real-world litigation experience as a 711-licensed attorney at the Medical Prosecution Unit of the Illinois Department of Finance and Professional Regulation, allowing him to practice law prior to his acceptance to the Bar. In this capacity, Alec represented the state on a variety of different medical malpractice cases and other claims of physician wrongdoing. Alec also worked in-house for two hospitals and a plaintiff’s personal injury law firm, giving him valuable insight from a variety of different angles of personal injury and medical malpractice law.
