Benjamin J. Levinsky

Senior Associate

Ben is a civil litigation trial attorney concentrating in defending insurers and self- insureds in matters of catastrophic loss, professional liability, products and construction law, trucking and transportation, premises liability, catastrophic investigation, manufacturing, and workers’ compensation. Ben brings a unique perspective to his defense practice after started his career as a Plaintiff’s attorney. Before joining Patton & Ryan, Ben gained significant trial experience, having first chaired 35 jury and 26 bench trials to verdict. After switching over to the defense, Ben has continued to hone his litigation skills. In the last year alone, Ben has personally participated in two multi-week jury trials that went to verdict where Plaintiffs’ counsel had asked the jury for more than $50 million dollars. Ben continues to zealously defend clients nationwide and is ready to take the case to verdict.

  • Third chair and lead associate managing trial team on four-week double knee amputation jury trial in Cook County; Not guilty on products liability counts; Plaintiff asked jury for over $100 million; November 2017
  • Drafted interlocutory appeal regarding enforceability of an arbitration clause in an indemnity agreement before the Illinois Fifth District Court of Appeals; May 2017
