Born and raised in the small town of Quincy, IL, Genevieve Niemann set her bar high. Early on, she realized her strong argumentation and persuasion skills complemented her interest in advocating for clients as an attorney. Her extensive legal background originated from her father, a well-established attorney, who practices in Central Illinois. With her father as her biggest role model, his profession became her life passion.
Since then, Genevieve has excelled in various aspects in the field of law. Genevieve gained an exceptionally diverse background in law while pursuing her Juris Doctor degree at DePaul University. She clerked for several judges in the Circuit Courts of Cook County, where she learned the courtroom inside and out. She spent a summer in the Felony Trial Division of the Cook County Public Defender’s Office. This opportunity brought to life research that Genevieve conducted when she aided the established Professor John F. Decker with for his book, Illinois Criminal Law. Through DePaul’s legal clinic, Genevieve represented several clients in the Cook County Domestic Relations Division and the Domestic Violence Courthouse. Genevieve was destined for the courtroom. Genevieve is familiar with all aspects of Patton & Ryan LLC’s trial team departments as she clerked for the firm prior to coming on board as an associate attorney. This experience enabled her to hit the ground running in litigating and defending the firm’s vast multimillion-dollar personal injury lawsuits.
Genevieve now litigates many claims such as medical malpractice, construction defect, maritime, toxic tort, insurance coverage, premises liability and other mass tort claims.
Genevieve continues to develop her leadership skills in Chicago’s legal community. She is extremely involved in bar associations and currently serves as the Vice Justice of Chicago’s Alumni Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International. Also, Genevieve is particularly active in the Young Lawyer’s Division of the Illinois State Bar Association, sits on several committees within the Illinois Women’s Bar Association, and is an active member of the Chicago Bar.
