Michael Spanel

Michael Spanel joined Patton & Ryan after practicing at two boutique aviation and dram shop litigation defense firms in Chicago. At these firms, he acquired valuable experience at both the trial and appellate levels not only in Illinois but also throughout the country.  He is a skilled litigator and has a unique background that adds a depth to his thought process and strategy in handling cases.

Before practicing law, Michael studied aerospace engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His math and science education makes him exceptionally adept at analyzing complex issues and effectively communicating them to judges and juries. Michael employs these keen skills in defending clients in product liability, construction defect, transportation, and general civil litigation cases, among more. With experience practicing in both state and federal courts, Michael handles matters from their inception through conclusion, and in doing so, regularly takes and defends contentious depositions, writes and argues critical dispositive motions, and ultimately spearheads trial preparation activities.
