Robert O'Connor


Robert has had lifetime of academic ambition and achievement.  He earned Dean’s List honors while at the University of Illinois for his Bachelor of Arts in English and Communications; minor in French.  He was also the recipient of the Collegiate Water Polo Association Scholar Athlete Award. While in law school he was a John Marshall Distinguished Scholar.

Outside of the classroom, Robert has also excelled in athletics. He was a two time All-American and Academic All-American in water polo. Robert also played Water Polo at the University of Illinois, where he was selected by his teammates as team captain and president and was named goalie of the Big Ten his senior year.  In his free time Robert is a bagpiper in the Shannon Rovers Irish Pipe Band.

In law school at John Marshall, Robert focused on skills to best represent clients.  He earned certificates in both Trial Advocacy and Alternative Dispute Resolution while also representing the school in Mock Trial and Negotiation competitions.  Fluent in French and conversational in German he gained a Certificate in Global Legal Studies: International Economic Law, Human Rights and Sustainability from his time spent studying at the University of Lucerne in Switzerland.  Prior to joining Patton and Ryan in autumn of 2020 Robert was using his language skills to assist in the preparation for cases involving international parties that required the use of multilingual legal counsel.
