William Keefer

William D. Keefer was born and raised in the Southwest Suburbs of Chicago. He attended St. Rita of Cascia High School, where he was a member of the school’s marching band, symphonic band, and jazz band. He earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Rochester, focusing on constitutional law and public policy, and obtained minors in legal studies and astrophysics.

Keefer earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he focused on intellectual property law. He was an editor and the Notes and Comments Editor for Volumes 25 and 26, respectively, for the Connecticut Insurance Law Journal. He clerked for the University’s Office of the General Counsel as well as the UConn Health Center’s Office of the General Counsel, where he worked on a wide range of issues including Freedom of Information Act contested cases, employment law, IP, and various novel issues pertaining to higher education institutions. After graduation, Keefer worked for a small law practice where he consulted on matters such as state and federal employment law, corporate law and contracts, licensing, and franchising for multi-million dollar clients.

William is excited to take his experience and perspective to Patton & Ryan to zealously represent its clients.
