Sean M. Hennessy

Associate

Growing up a nephew to two trial attorneys, Sean developed a passion for the law at a young age. He had the opportunity to see firsthand the importance of zealously representing your clients in and out of court.

Due to that passion in the law at such a young age, Sean pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science at the University of Illinois, where he was member of the Pre-Law Club. He then attended DePaul University College of Law, where he served on the Editorial Board of the DePaul Law Review as the Symposium Editor.  As the Symposium Editor, Sean organized a day long symposium on Daily Fantasy Sports and Sports Gambling.  He enlisted top attorneys and professors in the sports and gambling area, along with well-renowned, industry experts to participate in informative presentations and passionate debates over the intricacies of the different state and statutory laws, along with the possibility for future federal regulations.

In addition to developing his legal research and writing through his involvement in the DePaul La Review, Sean excelled at several of his legal research and writing classes. During law school, Sean developed his trial advocacy skills by taking several litigation courses, which honed his trial strategy and oral advocacy skills.

After his first year of law school Sean was a law clerk for a solo criminal defense attorney, where he further developed his research skills and trial strategy skills, including developing arguments for the attorney that would lead to favorable results for his clients.

Prior to joining Patton & Ryan LLC as an associate attorney, Sean clerked for the firm for over a year. His clerkship allowed him to familiarize himself with the different aspects of the trial teams and the practice area of insurance defense.  It also allowed him to develop the skills to strategize for the firm’s various cliental and gain the experience to vigorously defend his clients.
