Ilse Magana


Ilse I. Magana received her Bachelor’s degree in political science and psychology. She attended The DePaul University School of Law. During law school, she was an active participant in the trial advocacy program and worked in the criminal appeals legal clinic. Ilse was a member of DePaul’s Moot Court team that participated in the Vis International Commercial Arbitration competition. As part of the team, she competed in the organization’s world renowned, yearly competition held in Vienna, Austria. Throughout law school and after being admitted to the Illinois Bar, Ilse worked on the plaintiff’s side of civil litigation, primarily gaining experience in the areas of personal injury, premises liability, and medical malpractice claims. After several years, Ilse switched sides to work for a civil litigation defense firm where she gained additional experience in nursing home injury cases and trucking and construction accidents.

Ilse joins Patton & Ryan and brings with her a valuable and unique perspective to liability analysis because of her years of experience on the plaintiff’s side of civil litigation. Weeks after being admitted to the Illinois Bar, Ilse first chaired a trial to verdict in her client’s favor. Ilse is first born generation American and a native Spanish speaker.

In her spare time, Ilse enjoys spending time with her niece Florence, long walks through Lincoln Park Zoo with her dog Simba, running outside, and yoga.
